Civic Engagement
During the last city council election, voter turnout was so low that only 13% of registered voters in the city, a little under 6,000 voters, decided who was going to be on our city council. Voter turnout numbers being that low does not sit well with Korey. He believes we need be more active as a city to encourage more civic engagement in Taylor. There are two answers to this that Korey wants to address. The first is by increasing young voter turnout by having residents automatically registered to vote once they turn 18. The second is to make election days, both primary and general election dates, city-wide holidays with initiatives to encourage Taylor residents to turn out to the ballots. Election day should be seen as a celebration of our Democracy!
